Circular Procession

Saint Paul, 8 February 2011

We need appendages
to propel, to point
and to pontificate

But they desert us
like the odd airborne
dodo bird

Pythons have spurs
to grip their mates
during sex

Burrowing lizards
are now legless snakes
pressed in rock
