Canyon Ferry Ling

Saint Paul, 2 September 2009
Remembering Vern Troxel

Our rubber-soled ordnance used to
dropkick those alien placoderms

That gullet-stuffed ling
you pole-axed from the glory hole
is pure caveman jerky

But your eyes twinkled
when I booted that stiff
to the Canyon Ferry rubble

Now the reservoir spears our toes
like an ice spud shatters freeze-over
