No Ambiguity

Saint Paul, 8 October 2003

A ghost sign touts Brains - 25 cents
But there’s no ambiguity in Lee’s Liquor Lounge
Where parades of jiggers countermand fortune
Like the scattered furniture of good times

A key lies bedded in pulverized sheetrock
But there’s no ambiguity in the sign above the door
Where pyramids of cyclone dust swirl like the
Shattered tumblers of whereabouts accidental
