Saint Paul, 26 August 2007

One of the few friends
to show up at my wedding
claims to be an impostor

I don’t pretend
to be anything
I have no illusions of
strengths or shortcomings

It might surprise you then
to know my life is a movie
everyone I know is watching
and when I sleep, the actors
feed addictions or take naps

There’s one thing
left to reconcile
If everyone’s watching
who are these jokers
playing the lead roles
bit parts and voiceovers?

Not to alarm you
but in my periphery
I sometimes see
light piercing the
seams of the set
At night I’ve seen
pinhole galaxies
