Town in Pictures

Saint Paul, 1 July 2007

The damn near accurate surveyors
who laid out this town never knew
the train tracks would turn to rust
and hope would wander the streets

Our windows knocked out like teeth
an unfinished hotel resting prominently
in the town's center - construction
abandoned after the collapse of 29

The idle stares of storefront mannequins
no longer witness throngs of happy folks
your grandparents now too old to stand in
line below the missing lights of the Rialto
