Cock-Eyed from a Nail

Saint Paul, 9 December 2005
For my father

Tipped cock-eyed from a nail
A sepia smile seduced to majesty
It's the pop of blue bulbs cracking

Our rookies are dog-eared and fading
It was a glorious roost and mythical dugout
Ted Williams, Joe D and little Dom

Our extra inning headlines now detached
From the ragged insulation
Of load-bearing studs

Notes:
I have a sepia-colored reproduction of baseball legends Ted Williams,
Joe DiMaggio, and Dom DiMaggio posing prior to a Red Sox versus
Yankees game. My father kept this picture in his closet.
