Flexible Flyer

Saint Paul, 30 June 2005

An eagle clenches the reins
This sled's made to last
Grooved runners lay an arc
A toy made to slide fast
Scarves and mittens fly off
Through the innocence we cast

A craft of wood and steel
There's crazing in the varnish
Vintage Flyers are often used
To decorate a home along
With old skates laid over
The initials you once carved
