Harpsichord

Saint Paul, 9 July 2015

Lynx over a doublet with quilted sleeves
dandies of the fifteen hundreds enchanted
by the machinations of a boxed instrument
its strings wound taut around tuning pins
jacks pumping and plucking satin puffery

We listen to the last playable harpsichord
chords cast vibrations to tin can receivers
dutifully rise and clap as the music departs
